THE GREAT SALTAIR

The Great Saltair is about the closest Utah comes to a beach photoshoot location. With stunning sunsets and lots of open space, many of my clients love this place for formals and portraits.

SALT LAKE TEMPLE SQUARE 

Address: 50 North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150

*Most of Temple Square is currently under construction and not available to the public.* Temple Square is an iconic landmark in Utah. Home to large pioneer-era architecture and beautiful landscaping, this area in the heart of downtown SLC is very photographable. Keep in mind during much of the year you’ll be competing with crowds of visitors.

ZION NATIONAL PARK

Zion National Park is a dreamland for photographers, offering a mix of towering sandstone cliffs, lush vegetation, and the stunning Virgin River that meanders through the canyon. Popular photography spots include the Narrows, the Emerald Pools, and the iconic Angels Landing. Don’t forget to take a shot of the park’s unique subway-like tunnels carved through the rock formations.

BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

 Famous for its otherworldly landscapes, Bryce Canyon National Park boasts a series of amphitheaters filled with hoodoos – tall, thin spires of rock. The best way to experience the magic of Bryce Canyon is to take a hike along the rim or venture into the canyon itself. Sunrise and sunset cast a kaleidoscope of colors on the hoodoos, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

   Known for its striking red rock formations and over 2,000 natural stone arches, Arches National Park is a geological marvel. Delicate Arch, the park’s symbol, is a must-see, especially during sunset. The Fiery Furnace and Balanced Rock are other unique formations that make this park a photographer’s paradise.

CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK

Often overlooked, Capitol Reef National Park is a hidden gem with its colorful canyons, towering monoliths, and scenic drives. The Waterpocket Fold, a nearly 100-mile-long warp in the Earth’s crust, is a unique geological feature. Take the scenic drive through Capitol Reef to witness the park’s diverse landscapes, including the iconic Chimney Rock.

LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON

There are many great roadside locations up Little Cottonwood Canyon. These areas are great for accessible forest images.

LAKE POWELL

   For a different kind of natural beauty, head to Lake Powell, a massive reservoir on the Colorado River. The lake’s crystal-clear blue waters are surrounded by red rock formations, creating a stunning contrast. Explore the numerous slot canyons, go houseboating, or simply relax on the shores – Lake Powell offers a diverse range of activities.
